On October 16, 2017, we organized another Managers' Breakfast, dedicated to a topic that was expected to revolutionize the work of every HR department in Poland – the 2018 GDPR Personal Data Protection Revolution. The upcoming EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in May 2018 meant that companies needed a fundamental change in their approach to processing employee and candidate personal data. We organized this meeting to provide our clients with strategic knowledge in advance and enable them to effectively prepare for new legal obligations.
The event was led by specialists from RBDO (Personal Data Registration and Security): Łukasz Cieniak, General Director, and Karol Cieniak, Director of the Legal Department. Their extensive experience in managing information security systems was invaluable in the context of the upcoming legal changes.
During the meeting, we discussed in detail the challenges HR departments face under the GDPR. Speakers explained the purpose of GDPR and who must comply with the new regulations, focusing on HR obligations. The most important element was practical guidance on how to prepare HR departments for the upcoming changes. Experts provided examples and instructions for creating a proper disclosure clause required in recruitment and employment processes. We also emphasized the strict financial liability for violating GDPR regulations, which was intended to increase managers' awareness of the importance of properly implementing the new procedures.
