AUDIT HR Conference: Labor market, labor code, employment of foreigners – 2023 changes

A meeting dedicated to key economic and legal challenges was held at the Public Library.

On January 27, 2023, we organized the conference "Labor Market, Labor Code, Employment of Foreigners – Changes in 2023". The event took place at the Voivodeship and Municipal Public Library in Gorzów Wielkopolski, bringing together representatives of Lubusz businesses. The beginning of 2023 was a time of enormous uncertainty – inflation, rising employment costs, and revolutionary legal changes required managers to immediately implement new strategies. The conference aimed to provide precise knowledge in three key areas: the labor market, labor law, and employment legalization.

We presented the 17th edition of the Local Salary Report, analyzing the salary situation in the region.

The conference was opened by Violetta Panasiuk-Strzyżewska, President of the Management Board of AUDIT HR, with her presentation entitled "The Lubusz Labor Market – Current Situation. Salaries 2023 – Local Salary Report 17th Edition".

We presented data indicating a persistent labor market, as confirmed by unemployment rates in November 2022: in the Lubuskie region, it was just 4.3%, and in Gorzów Wielkopolski alone, only 2.2%. Against the backdrop of rising inflation, our analysis showed that wages increased by 8.41% in 2022 (data from the Salary Report), and the minimum wage for 2023 increased by a staggering 13.4%.

The expert panel discussed in detail the revolution in the Labor Code and regulations for foreigners. The following thematic blocks were devoted to fundamental legal changes:

  • Changes in the employment of foreigners: Przemysław Ciszek (legal advisor, Managing Partner at C&C Chakowski & Ciszek) discussed "Revolutionary changes in the employment of foreigners – new laws in 2023." This was a key topic given the continuing difficulties in recruiting employees.

  • Labor Code Amendments: Szczepan Przybylak (Labor Inspector, National Labor Inspectorate) presented "Changes to the Labor Code for Employees and Employers 2023." He discussed, among other things, new regulations regarding remote work and the controversial issue of employee sobriety testing.

The Director of TPV Displays Polska analyzed the impact of inflation and rising costs on business operations.

Tomasz Jeziorkowski (Human Resources Director at TPV Displays Polska Sp. z o.o.) presented a business practitioner's perspective. In his presentation, "Increasing Employment, Energy, and Inflation Costs and the Operation of an Enterprise", he discussed how these macroeconomic factors affect the daily operations of manufacturing companies and how effective human resources management can help mitigate the crisis.

The conference concluded with refreshments and behind-the-scenes discussions, allowing participants to exchange experiences and engage in individual consultations with experts.
